Reading Fluency Practice App
Explore ReadReveal's oral reading practice and available feedback on accuracy, rate and expression, with adult review and clear measurement limits.
ReadReveal supports oral reading practice through Mic mode and available automated feedback. Adults can use that information alongside their own listening to decide what to practise next. It is not a diagnostic reading assessment.
Practise reading connected text
Choose a suitable passage and explain the purpose before recording. A child might practise reading a short dialogue in meaningful phrases or reread a familiar section with fewer pauses. Reading faster is not the only goal: understanding and comfortable phrasing matter too.
The read-to-reveal activity gives the reader visible progress through the passage. It is an engagement feature, not evidence that fluency has improved.
What feedback can show
Where the required measurement is available, feedback can describe accuracy, rate and expression. These dimensions answer different questions. Accuracy concerns the words read; rate concerns pace; expression concerns how speech is phrased and delivered.
Not every session has complete evidence for every dimension. Missing measurements should not be treated as zero, and an automated match is not a guarantee of correct pronunciation. Review surprising results before making instructional decisions.
An adult-guided example
In a fictional story, a character asks, “Are you coming with us?” An adult can model how that question sounds, invite the reader to try it and discuss whether the phrasing helps convey meaning. Available app feedback can supplement that conversation; it cannot replace hearing the child.
Keep passage difficulty and practice conditions in mind when reviewing trends. A result from an unfamiliar passage is not directly comparable with a heavily practised text.
Keep reading modes separate
Tap and Type are supported practice activities, but they do not assess the same behaviour as reading aloud. Do not interpret their completion as oral-reading accuracy, rate or pronunciation evidence.
Decide what to do next
Use available reports to identify a manageable area for practice, then confirm it through observation. If difficulty persists, involve the child's teacher or a qualified specialist. ReadReveal does not promise score gains or replace a school's assessment process.
