Reading Practice Tools for Teachers

Use ReadReveal for classroom reading practice: assign passages, support different activities and review pupil progress alongside your own observations.

ReadReveal helps teachers organise supplemental reading practice through Reading Rooms, passage assignments and available progress reports. Its read-to-reveal experience gives pupils a visual activity while teachers remain responsible for instructional decisions.

Plan around a reading goal

Start with a specific goal: practising a familiar passage aloud, discussing unfamiliar vocabulary or listening to modelled phrases. Choose material that fits the reader and the lesson rather than assigning a passage solely because of its label.

Create a Reading Room and share the room code through your normal classroom process. Readers join using nicknames; they do not need to provide an email address or real name. Nicknames and linked classroom records may still be personal information. Follow your school's authorisation and privacy procedures.

A realistic classroom routine

During a fictional small-group lesson, one group practises a previously discussed passage while you listen to another group. Assign the passage, explain which activity to use and tell readers what to notice. After practice, ask each pupil to explain one event or idea before moving on.

Mic mode can provide automated reading feedback where available. Type and Tap offer different practice experiences; their completion should not be interpreted as an oral-reading score. Availability and allowances depend on the current plan and platform.

Review evidence, not just totals

The adult dashboard provides available reading activity and progress information. Look at trends in context: passage difficulty, mode, interruptions, language and the support provided can change what a result means. Missing measurements are not zero scores.

Use your own listening and classroom work to decide what needs attention. A surprising automated result is a reason to review the evidence, not to label a pupil.

Keep families informed

Teacher-issued parent reports can help adults discuss practice and progress. Share them only with authorised recipients, explain what the measurements represent and pair the report with a small, achievable next step.
